[00:00:00] Come on, guys, let's be honest. The online coaching space is in a copycat crisis. What I mean by this is when you scroll your feed on social media, you're gonna see the same hooks, the same formats, the exact same vulnerable posts with just a different face attached each time. And for me, here's the most frustrating part.
[00:00:14] I know a lot of these guys personally, and I know that they're brilliant coaches. They help their clients get great results, and they've been doing this for years and years, and these are coaches who value integrity above all else. But if I were judging from some of their recent posts, then you would never know that because their content makes them look like a cheap copy of whoever happens to be trending that week.
[00:00:33] And here's my take on the whole outlier method strategy. You know the one that tells you to just model what works, to look for the outliers who's doing, you know, five to 10 times better than the average, and just copy that, steal the hook, copy the content, and then stick your face on it. That is the single biggest reason so many coaches are still chasing clients instead of being chosen because here's the thing, sophisticated buyers, you know, the ones who happily pay $10,000 or more for real coaching expertise and real consulting, they've got an incredibly sensitive radar, and they vibe check you really hard if you're a coach.

[00:01:26] So it's a little annoying, but it is true if you're a coach. So here's So here's the thing. They're not looking for another guru. They're looking for a guide. These kind of clients, they wanna invest in a unique experience that they can't get anywhere else. The real question you gotta be asking yourself if you're looking for high-level clients who choose you instead of you chasing them, the question is, "How do I become and maintain being an original in a sea of copycat coaches?
[00:01:52] How do I build a brand so unique, so rooted in my own genius," in your own genius, "that it becomes a moat around your business?" And a moat is what's gonna make you, as a coach, irreplaceable. I'm not gonna give you more templates to fill in. I'm gonna give you a simple framework.
[00:02:06] It's gonna be in the shape of A triangle. And this triangle will unlock an infinite source of stories and ideas that only you can share, guaranteed. So how do we actually build this content moat? I'm gonna bet that it's simpler than you might think, and it starts when you stop looking outward on your newsfeed at what all the other coaches are doing.
[00:02:26] That's the first thing you gotta do. And then you start looking inward in three places that only you have access to, unless you've been hacked, and that's a different story. I'm gonna call this the three C framework, and it's the exact system I use myself and I teach my private paying clients. So the three places I look every time are my cash, my contacts, and my calendar.
[00:02:46] That's it. That's my entire life. Everything that makes me unique is already documented in one of these three places. So let me show you what I mean. So I'm gonna break this up into three main categories. Category number one is fun. What did I spend money on for fun? Next one is gonna be business. What did I spend money on to help my business grow?
[00:03:05] And the third one is lessons. Now, when I look at lessons, and there's gonna be stuff like, for example, stuff that you spent that you learned a lesson about, not necessarily a fun thing, but these are the stories that are gonna really open up a conversation with your audience. So here's what I want you to do.
[00:03:21] Open up Venmo or your credit card report or whatever you use the most to spend money. And every single one of those line items is a story that can be connected to one of three things: How you're having fun, how you're enjoying your money, how you invest in your business, and the stuff that taught you a lesson.
[00:03:35] For example, just yesterday, I looked at my credit card report and I got dinged 8,000 Japanese yen. That's about $60, and it was for a gym membership for my wife that she's not even using. I had meant to cancel it, but I forgot. It slipped my mind. Now, that's not just a waste of money. That experience is a story about intention, about clutter, about the hidden cost of not paying attention, and that's a powerful lesson I can share with a client who feels overwhelmed in their business.
[00:04:00] Or how about a bigger investment? For example, I could talk about the fact that I spent well over six figures over the years on coaching and mentorships and memberships. It's easy to just post a picture from an event right? But the real story- Is going deeper. I can share the fear I felt right before I handed my credit card over and told them to charge it for a $30,000 investment.
[00:04:21] But I did it anyway because I was desperate to solve a problem, or I needed to have a conversation with this particular person. I could even talk about the conversation I had to have with my wife, explaining to her after the fact that I had spent this money. And that there is a story about risk. It's about belief, and it's about the courage to invest in yourself, in myself, and it connects deeply with anyone who's considering investing in their own growth.
[00:04:45] All right, let's go to the second C. This is contacts. Literally open your phone right now. You could open up your actual contacts app or your Facebook app or whatever you use, right? Look for your friends list. Look for your contact list. Now, every single person in there is a story. I put them in three main categories.
[00:05:03] There's the people I serve, the people who serve me, and the people I've grown up with, or in other words, your clients, your contractors, and your family. And sometimes, let's be honest, these three categories, they overlap in crazy ways. But let me just show you a real-life story of what happened when my wife got a flat while I was in an airplane.
[00:05:18] So picture this. I'm sitting in my seat on the plane. The engines are spinning up. I could feel the vibration, and we're about to lift off. And I thought, "You know what? I wanna call my wife." She'd just dropped me off. She's got six kids in our family van. I just wanted to thank her for the lift before I'm stuck in airplane mode for the next 17 hours.
[00:05:34] And while I'm on the plane, she says, "Oh no, we got a flat tire." The moment I realized what was happening, I realized I've got about 30 seconds to give her just the information she needs so she can get to a speedy result because there's no way that I can get the plane to stop and I can go help her at this moment, nor would it be a good idea.
[00:05:52] So I thought of three things. Number one, there's a card in the glove compartment with our roadside assistance company. Call that number. Number two, because we're in Japan, she doesn't speak so much Japanese. I told her the exact words to say in order to explain what's going on. And number three, I told her the name of the highway she was on in Japanese so that she can tell them where to find her.
[00:06:11] And then I got cut off. 17 hours later, I land in Florida. But it turned out those three bits of information were enough to get her from where she was stuck with a flat tire on the expressway to getting rescued and getting home safely. If you're wondering why I told you this story, I'll explain it.
[00:06:25] Because you need three vital pieces of information right now to get where you are stuck with your content to moving forward, flying on the highway, and getting home safely, and I'm gonna help you get there. [00:06:57] I'll see you there. That was an example of a video I created to promote a workshop that I was doing just about a week ago. So, you see, it started with a story about family, about trust, and about dealing with chaos, and these are all things that my clients deal with. Now, I want you to think about the first client you ever had to fire.
[00:07:14] Now, when it happened to me, the conversation was gut-wrenching. It was scary, and I was wondering if I was making a mistake, but I learned so much about setting boundaries and defining who I really want to work with. And that's not just a memory. That's a lesson. It actually shaped my entire business. It's shaped how my team thinks about it, and it shapes how my team thinks about me, and it's gonna have the same experience for the people who I coach.
[00:07:36] And on the flip side, I can think about a coach I hired who did an amazing job. Why was he so good? Why did I choose him? What outcome did I expect? That experience becomes a piece of content about what premium coaching actually can look like, what's possible. And It's also a content piece about how I strive to provide the exact same level of excellence for my own clients.
[00:07:58] But it's gonna subtly elevate my brand if I show how much I value and recognize greatness in other coaches, not just myself. And if you do it, then it's gonna elevate your brand as well. All right, time to move on to the third C, that's your calendar. I'm gonna start with an example in my own real life.
[00:08:14] Now, just looking back a few weeks on my own calendar, my son just got married a few weeks ago, and that experience was so profound for me, something I will never forget, and I ended up sharing a story about it. Let me show you. This is a picture of my son, Cedric, and this is my new daughter-in-law, Bia. They got married about two weeks ago.
[00:08:29] It was an amazing wedding. It was supposed to be outdoors, but it kind of rained. And the song Ironic by Alanis Morissette, that would not leave my head, but that's not who the story is about. The story is about this guy, my other son, Michael, the guy holding the camera right now. He was supposed to show up as the best man for the event, and on the way there, his car engine literally blows up on the highway, and he's two hours away.
[00:08:48] Thankfully, my sister was able to go drive out, rescue him, and bring him to the wedding so that he could do his best man duties. Now, here's the thing. I'm running a workshop in just a few days for some really smart coaches, and the thing is, I don't have to drive, so there's zero risk of my car breaking down, and I want you to be there with me.
[00:09:04] I've been doing content creation for over a decade, not just for me, but for my agency clients who are making millions and millions of dollars and printing out thousands of pieces of content, and I wanna take some of what I learned and share that with you, and I guarantee that if you show up live, I'll be there, too.
[00:09:18] And I guarantee that if we're both there together, we're gonna make magic happen. Hope to see you there. And also, if it rains, it doesn't matter because my studio is indoors. So right now you might be thinking, "Okay, Ken, the three Cs, great idea. I had my aha moment, and it's great in theory, but I just looked at my calendar and I saw that I've got a dentist appointment next Tuesday. So what?
[00:09:36] How does the story about getting my teeth cleaned get me a $10,000 client?" And that is the million-dollar question, because having an endless supply of stories is useless if you don't know how to make them relevant to your ideal future client, and this is what I call the relevance gap. It's the space between your experience and their problem.
[00:09:56] On this side of the gap right here, you've got the three Cs, which is your lived experience, your story. And on this side, you have their problem and their current situation. And here's the thing, if you can't build a bridge across this gap, your content will just be another vlog entry. It might be interesting, but it won't be very profitable.
[00:10:14] So how do you build the bridge? Well, there are two ways. There's two bridges you can build, and the first one is for your brand, and the second one is for your authority. So let's build these two bridges. The first bridge you can build is what I call the interestingness bridge. This right here is for building your personal brand.
[00:10:30] Remember, high-ticket clients aren't buying your coaching, they're buying into you as a person. So when you use your calendar to share a story about a trip you're planning, you're not just sharing, you're demonstrating that you live a life that is intentional. For example, next month, I'm actually flying out to Phuket, Thailand to enjoy the weather and the beaches, but I'm also going there as a professional speaker, where I'm presenting to 40 entrepreneurs in a private session, and I'm there to train them about content creation at a high level that's actually gonna help make them money.
[00:10:59] And also in Phuket, one week later, I'm attending a workshop where I am there to uplevel my skills as a coach. And in between, you can bet that I'm gonna hit the beach and have a whole bunch of fun. Now, the fact that I'm talking about it right now and the fact that while I'm there, I will be creating content about it, and leading up to that date, you can bet that I'm gonna be referencing it.
[00:11:16] What I actually say could be about why I'm doing that, why I'm investing in my growth, why I'm getting hired to speak at world-class events. Technically, it is bragging, but it's not about bragging. It's a story about how I prioritize having clarity in the future of my business, about creating space for deep thinking, also investing in my personal brand by traveling to these events where I'm actually getting paid or events where I'm also paying.
[00:11:39] It's also sharing my journey, where I wanna build a business where I'm not chained to my desk. Now, hopefully, me sharing this story with you makes me a bit more of an interesting human being, a bit more three-dimensional, a bit less like the person who's always there pitching and talking about one thing, creating content.
[00:11:53] I want you to get to know me better and to like me a bit more, and as a result, trust me And when you do the same thing and execute correctly, it's gonna attract the right kind of clients who aspire to have that same level of freedom and the life that you have. So this path here, the interestingness bridge, it's gonna build connection and aspiration.
[00:12:13] You don't always need to tie it back to a business lesson. Sometimes the story is the point of the content. But for building direct authority, we need the second bridge, and this is the one you're gonna use the most. I call it the insight bridge. This is how you connect a specific personal experience to a powerful business lesson.
[00:12:31] It's a simple three-step process: story, transition, insight. Let's use that example from earlier. Let's say you look at your calendar and you had a sales call yesterday that went terribly. So your content might start with something like this, "I just got a call with somebody who tried to pitch me their services, and they were going about it all wrong, like it's 1995.
[00:12:48] Their first two minutes was small talk that was completely scripted, and then they just couldn't wait to pull out their slide deck and start pitching me on their service." And throughout the 20 minutes, they didn't ask me one single question about my business. So that's step one. We told the story. Now in step two, we're gonna use a transition phrase.
[00:13:05] Now, this part kind of feels magical. You connect your story to a bigger idea. You can say something like, "And that experience was such a good reminder that," dot, dot, dot. You know, a lesson you actually wanna teach. Or you can say something like, "And this got me thinking about the way that I sell in my own business."
[00:13:20] So these are transitional phrases. You tell the story, and then you explain how it's gonna pivot to the next thing. Step three is where you deliver the insight. Right here is where you wanna share your lesson about your core belief. Now, you could say something like, "The old way of hard pitching is dead.
[00:13:34] It's like trying to ask for a marriage on a first date. High-level buyers, the people who wanna pay you $10,000 or more today, they're allergic to being sold to, and they've got their guard up. True connection and genuine curiosity on sales calls are not nice-to-haves anymore. They're the only thing that works on sales calls."
[00:13:51] So I'm gonna step out of character now. You see how that works? I took a simple experience, something that actually happened to me, and I explained how it worked and how it made me feel. You can take a simple everyday experience from your calendar, and you can use the story transition insight bridge to turn it into a piece of content that establishes your authority, and it shows you actually understand your prospect's market.
[00:14:10] You can do this with anything, and this is how you turn your actual life that's recorded in your calendar into client-attracting content. So now you got the complete system. First of all, you got the three Cs to find infinite source of content that only you can talk about, and you have the two bridges, the interestingness bridge and the insight bridge.
[00:14:31] And the formula's super simple: story, transition, insight. So in theory, you've got everything you need to create infinite content where you're saying only what only you can say. But there's one final hurdle, isn't there? It's the little voice in your head that says, "I'm not ready. I'm not good enough. I'm not smooth enough," or, "How am I gonna be able to deliver content and sound professional when I've never seen a video of myself where I look the way I wanna look?"
[00:14:52] And that right there, that's called the execution hurdle. It's the gap between knowing the playbook and how to do it and actually running the play with 100% confidence, and it's often the final barrier that's gonna keep really smart coaches from putting all of this into practice. So how do we clear the execution hurdle?
[00:15:08] How do we actually get confident and start sounding natural on video? The answer is simple. It's not sexy, but you gotta practice. The only way to get good at bridging your stories to your insights is to actually do it. Not in a cringey viral post, but you actually just need to take some reps. You need to put out content and do it consistently.
[00:15:27] So here's my challenge to you. I want you to take everything we just talked about with the three Cs and then the interestingness bridge and the insight bridge, and I want you to make it real in the next 24 hours. I want you to post it ugly. Don't wait till it's perfect.
